A Plea for prayer for
As you all know, Aaron Pines’ cancer has returned and progressed to areas in his lungs as well as in his pelvic bone. As of now, I don’t have details of his specific prognosis, but only that it has spread. This has caught us all by surprise, but we know that cancer can be unpredictable.
The details or reasons are out of our control. However, what is in our control is the ability to give everything over to God. There are moments in our life where we can’t control the hardships we face, but God gives us the ability to decide how we respond.
I have never seen anyone fight as hard as Aaron has these last six months. Despite everything, he has done his best to live a normal life and take care of his wife Deriah. Now, it’s time for us as family and friends to step up and do everything we can to help Aaron and Deriah.
I offer to everyone a challenge. A challenge to come together collectively and pray for Aaron and Deriah. I know that everyone’s daily schedule differs from one another, so we came up with two time frames that you can choose from to pray.
*Morning 6am – 10am
*Evening 5pm – 7pm
My intention is not to change anyone’s daily routine when it comes to worship or prayer, but to simply do your best to fit in a prayer or two within these times. The idea is to hopefully get a big group of people to not only pray, but to pray at the same time - specifically for Aaron and his family. If these times don’t work out, I just ask that you pray when you can. We owe this to our brother and we owe this to our Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s hold ourselves and each other accountable. Let’s pray, even when we’re tired or when we just don’t feel like it. Pray with your family, pray by yourself, pray in your car, pray while working, pray whenever. It doesn’t have to be formal, just pray. Hopefully we can get together in person and pray as one big group soon. I will keep you posted.
Thank you all for your love and commitment,
“Again I say to you, if two of you agree on each about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them”
Today Aaron starts his second chemotherapy treatment (each treatment is being spaced 3 weeks apart). The first treatment that he received was difficult as he displayed common, as well as rare, side effects from it. Last week Aaron also received radiation therapy on his hip due to pain the cancer has been causing in his bones. We are praying that this will help alleviate some of his pain. Soon he will be getting a body scan to see if the chemotherapy treatments have been effective.
Over the course of the past 2 weeks one of Aaron’s friends from work was moved to start a GoFundMe page for Aaron. For those of you who do not know, Aaron and Deriah are both doing all they can to work full time while battling this disease. What a blessing this GoFundMe page has been, not only will it help with any financial burden this has caused it has produced a prayer chain that reaches far and wide. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, as well as Justin Turner from the LA Dodgers sent personal heartfelt messages of encouragement to Aaron via video. I will attach a link at the end of this update so you can watch it for yourself.
Aaron and Deriah feel blessed to be a part of such a loving church and appreciate all of your prayers and encouragement. We continue to rely on our lord for healing, guidance, and hope. Until the next update I leave you with this scripture verse
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
